The book, Floating Worlds, is a collection of illustrated envelopes and the corresponding letters between the brilliant Edward Gorey and author/editor Peter F. Neumeyer. From 1968-69, the two decided to begin collaborating on several children’s books, and built a deep friendship in the process through exchanging these letters. Neumeyer just released this collection as a book showing the 75 typewritten letters, 38 illustrated envelopes, and over 60 postcards and enclosed illustrations. The idea of brainstorming, exploring and building something together through this means of communication is hugely inspiring to me. And these envelopes, these envelopes!!

Available from the publisher, Pomegranate for $35.
