I’m away from the blog this week with some much needed R&R. I normally blog ahead of time but things have been so busy prepping for the holidays. Here’s a sneak peek at some of the fun new stuff we’ll have in store for you in the shop!
The workshop sweep continues! I’ve been hosting folks for intro workshops these past few days, continuing on through this week. Each class receives a full kit of calligraphy staples and my favorite tools plus a workbook of exercises and tips. We end the workshop with a project focus on elegant correspondence and how to make your letters, notes and envelopes look their best. Of course, this whole process is accompanied by plentiful wine and cookies. If only my work day was as well.
Looking forward to a couple new groups tonight and tomorrow. For info on upcoming workshops, sign up here.
Most of the workshops quickly sold out after announcing them this Monday but there are still some seats left at the brand-new Open Project Session on Wednesday evening, Oct 23rd from 6:30-8:30pm in DUMBO, Brooklyn.
The Project Session is perfect for those who have had at least a little bit of experience. Bring your supplies, your materials and any questions you have and I will spend the time advising you on your work, discussing particular questions or approaches.
Maybe you’ve taken a class or two and are looking to spend some more time practicing. Or perhaps you’re planning to address your own wedding invitations and want some advice on the process. Or maybe you’re thinking about some calligraphy gifts you’d like to make for friends. Whatever it is, bring the materials and supplies and I’ll spend time with each of you to help you move forward with your calligraphy!
Bring your inks, nibs and paper and any samples of materials you’re trying to work with. I’ll have some of my favorite supplies on hand for you to test out and experiment with as well, but be sure to have everything you need with you for a productive time.
I’ll have some snacks, some wine and loads of moral support and calligraphy advice ready for you!
$50 includes a two-hour session, drink and cookies. Sign up here.
Too busy to type! Been writing up a storm these days. Here’s a peek at yesterday’s shipment. Gotta love those stamps.
Exciting news! Snippet & Ink, one of my most favorite wedding sites, launched their new select vendor guide yesterday and Paperfinger is one of the very few calligraphers chosen to be a part of the guide!
They describe the guide best:
Snippet & Ink Select is a handpicked selection of wedding vendors and companies we believe in, people we have worked with personally, and who have passed our careful approval process. These are the vendors we would recommend to our sisters and our best friends, because their work represents the best the wedding industry has to offer.
We’ve added two new custom address stamps to the shop this week. Very exciting!
First, the self-inking address stamp, which may not look as dang cute as the wooden one, but it’s SO handy and really easy to use. We’re hooked on it here at the studio. Makes for a clean impression every time and so helpful when we’ve got lots of mail to send. Only $78 and it will make life super easy and super lovely.
Second, an illustrated address stamp if you’re looking for a darling wedding or housewarming gift. This would stamp great on packages, envelopes, anything and we’ll even fit the zip code into the pretty banner at the bottom. At $74, it’s a bit larger (2″x3″) and fun for those more decorative parcels or a unique gift idea.
To celebrate the launch of these new goodies, we’re having a short and very special sale with our friends at One Kings Lane. Get ‘em for a rare and mighty discount now through Saturday morning! (If you’re new to One Kings Lane, use this link and you’ll get $15 off.)

What it’ll be like:
Informative and fun! BYOB or enjoy a complimentary glass of wine and some cookies. Gather up some pals and do it together. Or come on your own! The Poppies & Posies studio is a really cool place to spend an evening. You’ll practice, play with inks and paper…and then write a pretty note to a friend or dream up some cool lettering.

I provided calligraphy for Abe & Frank’s invitation addressing and had the fun task of writing mirror and zinc menus for the cocktail bar and dinner tables, which you see pictured above and below. The Foundry makes for such a great venue as always.
And of course, seeing these pics after yesterday’s Supreme Court decision just adds to the joy of them. View the full post on Design*Sponge.
