Today’s holiday is sponsored by WIMA (The Writing Instrument Manufacturers Association) and is timed with John Hancock’s birthday as well, known among other reasons, for his stand-out signature on the Declaration of Independence.

Nerdy handwriting moment complete.

maria & oliver : wedding at the foundry

Here are some photos taken by Nelson Hancock of Weddings By Two from Maria and Oliver’s wedding at the Long Island City Foundry this fall. This was another opportunity for me to collaborate with my a bunch of pals: Sierra and Juliet of Poppies & Posies who created and designed all the florals; Lauren of Loli Events was the planner behind it all; and Betsy of Nine Cakes was in on it as well.

My components included all grey and white themed table numbers, escort cards, menus, gift tags and signage.

Thanks to Ruffled for the feature last week! See the full post here and all the weddding images here.

chalk-drawn alphabet paperweights : by dana tanamachi for west elm

Posted: January 12th, 2012 | Author: | Filed under: design, lettering and fonts, paper, things | No Comments »

I love the collection of alphabet paperweights that my pal, Dana Tanamachi created for West Elm using her masterful hand-drawn lettering in chalk. (You probably saw her incredible work featured on all the holiday signage and catalogs for West Elm as well.) Each letter is beautifully crafted and distinct from the next. At $8 they make a really cool gift for almost anyone. And it doesn’t hurt to be reminded about paper on desks in the process…

Congrats Dana!
